Spread composted or well-aged manure that is at least 6 months old in the garden. Fresh manure should only be added in areas where you won't plant for another month. Bagged manure can be used any time.

It’s manure season! Savvy gardeners are busy mulching beds and borders with composted manure. Personally, I favor dairy manure over horse. Cows have a complex digestive system and their droppings compost quickly.
